Rwandan President Paul Kagame has warned government officials against repeating mistakes, urging them to prioritise public service over personal interests. Speaking during the swearing in ceremony of new ministers Juvenal Marizamunda (Defence), Console Uwimana (Gender and Family Promotion), and Yves Iradukunda (State Minister for ICT and Innovation) Kagame stressed the importance of accountability and learning from past errors.
He noted that while mistakes are part of human nature, repeating them shows a lack of responsibility and focus on national interests. Kagame reminded leaders that their role is to serve Rwandans and contribute to the country's development, not to pursue self gain.
Highlighting the roles of defence, technology, and family as key pillars of Rwanda's progress, Kagame called on the ministers to carry out their duties with integrity and a clear understanding of the country's past, present, and future goals. He warned that internal weaknesses, if not addressed, could hinder national development.
Kagame urged the officials to take their responsibilities seriously, avoid recurring mistakes, and ensure their actions benefit all citizens.
